Unless you or a friend pick them, you will likely never taste a fresh huckleberry as they are not cultivated but found growing wild. Similar to a blueberry, but a little more astringent and with ten nutlike seeds, they are important wildlife food. We like our huckleberry jelly spread thick on a buttered English muffin.
